The ULTIMATE Dinner Party

Welcome back, everyone!

How has your week been? If it has been good, I hope it gets even BETTER. If it hasn’t been good, I hope this week is YOUR week.

I have a question for y’all. Have you ever hosted a dinner party? One of those fancy, black-tie events? Who did you invite?

Well, imagine THIS: A nice dinner party with all your favorite foods, favorite adult beverages, and yes, you guessed it.. ANYONE WHO YOU WANT TO INVITE CAN COME. Well, let me just tell y’all how MY perfect dinner party would go and who would be invited.

If you know me, you KNOW my love for Beyonce. Now I wouldn’t say that I am captain of the Bey-Hive, but I do truly adore her. I have read that she is one of the most humblest, down to earth people ever and I would really love to just get to know her and connect with her on a personal level and of course dance to “Single Ladies”.

Another person who I would definitely invite would be Kobe Bryant. He’s had a tremendous

impact on the National Basketball Association and people all over the world Being a very well known basketball star is not all Kobe was though. He was an amazing dad, husband, and person to all who knew him. He was extremely loved and I know that he is truly missed by people all around the globe. Kobe would be an excellent person to model all things career related after. From his extra practices before his team arrived to being the last person to leave the gym, I believe Kobe was truly remarkable.

Someone else I would like to meet is Kasey Cooper. She is one of my favorite softball players of all time and I actually got the chance to see her play in person. She played for Auburn University. Being a third baseman, she holds almost every offensive record for the Tigers. Kasey had to exemplify dedication, determination, and hard work to break and hold the records that she does for Auburn University. To have those qualities in my personal life would make me a great asset to any workplace.

Another inspiring person I would invite would be Barack Obama. I believe that President Obama attempted to make things better for everyone and not just the people of his skin tone and financial class. He served two consecutive terms and was a great leader. In my opinion, he has been the best president of the U.S. thus far. Although all Presidents have done questionable and truly bad things during their preisendyc, I believe Obama was for sure one of the most ridiculed, bullied, and discussed presidents in history simply because of the color of his skin. I would love to pick his brain and get information about how he managed the stress and pressure of living up to such high expectations on a day to day basis.

Bill Gates would be another person I would invite. The reason being is to get ideas from him about running a huge, multi-million dollar industry and how to keep it running and thriving for so many years. This experience would be very insightful and I believe that I could learn a lot from him also about being successful and how to handle ample amounts of success.

Having all of these people at a dinner party and being able to pick their brains for ideas, fun, and how to develop myself in the professional world would truly be amazing and a once in a lifetime opportunity. Beyonce, Kobe Bryant, Kasey Cooper, Barack Obama, and Bill Gates would be the absolute best choices for me and a dream come true.

But now I ask,

Who would YOU invite to a dinner party and why?

The "R" Word.

RACISM. Look at me. I'm a black woman. I  was born a black woman and I will be a black woman until I  die. I  love my skin and I am comfortable in my skin (besides these extra pounds I've picked up... thanks quarantine). I  believe Black Lives Matter. I  think people should be allowed to date who they want. I    am pro-black. I  am also a black woman with a white best friend. Where It All Started Me and my best friend, Hannah, have been friends for about 13 years. We met in Mrs. Tisdale's third grade class and have been pretty much stuck like glue since. We've cried together, been in trouble together, snuck out together (sorry mama and Mrs. Kim), had disagreements, and fights but our friendship has never quavered.  We grew up attending Vincent Middle High School, a small 2A school about 30 miles outside of Birmingham,AL (You know, one of those towns where EVERYBODY knows EVERYBODY'S business 😒) I'll be the first to say that Hanna...

One of THOSE Days

Happy Friday Y'all! This week has been one of THOSE weeks. You know, one of those weeks where you are not mentally where you want to b e, your physical healt h is pretty sucky, or when you just need a break from life and  all  things ass ociated with it. Unfortunately, I've been definitely experiencing one of those week. I  woke up Sunday feeling pretty icky and instantly though, OH NO! I was experiencing a runny nose, headache, dry cough, and just felt really weak. I went home for the weekend and knew I    was in no shape to drive back to campus. I went back to campus Monday evening and woke up Tuesday morning to g o to my universities Student Health Center. In the times of COVID-19, I  w as prettyyyyyy sure I  had caught it and very bummed. I     got tested and it was NEGATIVE!! I    definitely was happy about that but NOT about the sinus infection they diagnosed me with. All in all though, I  am bl...
