BEST Music Playlist

Hello everyone and welcome back to Just Charity Things! Remember the epic guest list that I would have if I were to throw a dinner party? Well, everyone knows that a great party HAS to have great music or else it can’t be a very good party.

My top 5 songs that would be played at a dinner party hosted by me would be:

  1. Beyonce- Run the World (Girls)

First of all, who in their right mind DOESN’T love Beyonce? I chose this song because I believe that women empowerment is a vital and important thing in life. As a woman, music that uplifts up, makes us feel good, and gives us the opportunity to celebrate being women is always a plus. Women need music that makes them feel equal to men and as if the
y are worthy of all things. This song does just that!

  1. Survivor-Eye of the Tiger

This song brings back memories of elementary school and ARMT testing. Our teachers were so focused on getting us pumped up and excited that they would make sure we ate a good breakfast, got peppermints to eat while we tested and also listened to motivational or pumped up music to ensure we were relaxed and comfortable. My favorite song on the playlist was by far Eye of The Tiger and I believe it is the PERFECT motivational song and dance music.

  1. Lizzo-Good As Hell

Lizzo’s Good As Hell is just the ultimate feel-good song. It makes you want to dance, makes you want to sing, makes you want to really just have the time of your life. This feel good music is exactly what is needed at a dinner party that features Beyonce. Some music just evokes serotonin and happiness and this song is exactly what makes that happen for me.

  1. Elton John-Can You Feel the Love Tonight

YES! I know this song from The Lion King. It doesn’t make it any less than any of the others. This song is for sure one of my all time favorites and would be perfect for a slow dancing playlist at a dinner party. The slow, romantic song is perfect for couples to slow dance too and really winds down the night beautifully.

  1. Dan+Shay- Speechless

Last, but certainly not least is one of all time favorite songs. Speechless by Dan & Shay is a song about love and seeing your special someone. It is the cliche country love song but it is sooooo good and the video makes me love the song even better. This would also be the perfect song for my dinner guests to dance with their dates or to be playing softly while guests are enjoying their dinners.

I believe that all of these songs somehow represent my goals in my professional career and also hint to a lot of my personality. The different genres, different artists, and different sounds all truly give a clue as to who I truly am. I am a person who enjoys all the walks of lives and I never conform to one specific thing in society. I enjoy all music and will never limit myself to one particular genre. I am also open to trying out new music and listening to new artists. This also reflects how I am in life because I believe in trying and experiencing new things in life. The beauty of life is to not stick to the norm and try all things in life because you never truly know what you won’t and will like if you never experience it.

The "R" Word.

RACISM. Look at me. I'm a black woman. I  was born a black woman and I will be a black woman until I  die. I  love my skin and I am comfortable in my skin (besides these extra pounds I've picked up... thanks quarantine). I  believe Black Lives Matter. I  think people should be allowed to date who they want. I    am pro-black. I  am also a black woman with a white best friend. Where It All Started Me and my best friend, Hannah, have been friends for about 13 years. We met in Mrs. Tisdale's third grade class and have been pretty much stuck like glue since. We've cried together, been in trouble together, snuck out together (sorry mama and Mrs. Kim), had disagreements, and fights but our friendship has never quavered.  We grew up attending Vincent Middle High School, a small 2A school about 30 miles outside of Birmingham,AL (You know, one of those towns where EVERYBODY knows EVERYBODY'S business 😒) I'll be the first to say that Hanna...

One of THOSE Days

Happy Friday Y'all! This week has been one of THOSE weeks. You know, one of those weeks where you are not mentally where you want to b e, your physical healt h is pretty sucky, or when you just need a break from life and  all  things ass ociated with it. Unfortunately, I've been definitely experiencing one of those week. I  woke up Sunday feeling pretty icky and instantly though, OH NO! I was experiencing a runny nose, headache, dry cough, and just felt really weak. I went home for the weekend and knew I    was in no shape to drive back to campus. I went back to campus Monday evening and woke up Tuesday morning to g o to my universities Student Health Center. In the times of COVID-19, I  w as prettyyyyyy sure I  had caught it and very bummed. I     got tested and it was NEGATIVE!! I    definitely was happy about that but NOT about the sinus infection they diagnosed me with. All in all though, I  am bl...
