First Blog Post

Hi and welcome to Just Charity Things! 



My name is Charity Robertson and I  am a 20 year old junior at Jacksonville State University where I  am majoring in Communications with a concentration in Public Relations and minor in English. 

After graduation, I  plan on hopefully securing a job in the workforce where I will be solely in charge of managing social media accounts for well known organizations. I  have always been fascinated by the "damage control" part of Public Relations so I believe this would also be something I  am definitely interested in and looking forward to learn more about in this class. 

 I  do plan on continuing this blog past this class and graduation just as soon as I  can grasp the hang of things! This blog will highlight things in my day to day life, from cooking, to balancing school, work, and a social life and also some more serious topics such as my encounters with racism, or what it is like growing up as a young, black woman in a white male dominated society. 

As you join me on this journey, I  hope you learn from me, I hope you laugh at and with me, I hope you cry with and most of all, I hope you're buckled up and ready for the chaotic ride that is my life! 😇

The "R" Word.

  RACISM. Look at me. I'm a black woman. I  was born a black woman and I will be a black woman until I  die. I  love my skin and I am comfortable in my skin (besides these extra pounds I've picked up... thanks quarantine). I  believe Black Lives Matter. I  think people should be allowed to date who they want. I    am pro-black. I  am also a black woman with a white best friend. Where It All Started Me and my best friend, Hannah, have been friends for about 13 years. We met in Mrs. Tisdale's third grade class and have been pretty much stuck like glue since. One of THOSE Days

  Happy Friday Y'all! This week has been one of THOSE weeks. You know, one of those weeks where you are not mentally where you want to b e, your physical healt h is pretty sucky, or when you just need a break from life and  all  things ass ociated with it. Unfortunately, I've been definitely experiencing one of those week. I  woke up Sunday feeling pretty icky and instantly though, OH NO! I was experiencing a runny nose, headache, dry cough, and just felt really weak. I went home for the weekend and knew I    was in no shape to drive back to campus. I went back to campus Monday evening and woke up Tuesday morning to g o to my universities Student Health Center. In the times of COVID-19, I  w as prettyyyyyy sure I  had caught it and very bummed.
