James Charles x Morphe Video

James Charles x Morphe video created, directed, and edited by me!   Morphe x James Charles Makeup is defined as “cosmetics such as lipstick or powder applied to the face, used to enhance or alter the appearance”. In today’s generation, mostly everyone uses some sort of enhancement. Whether it be as simple as mascara or even lipstick; makeup has truly become a popular trend in this society. With famous makeup influencers such as Jeffree Star, Bretman Rock, Jaclyn Hill, and Nikita Dragun, the makeup industry has truly flourished. A lot of beauty influencers have their own partnerships and deals with companies where they are able to release their own products. One that comes to mind is James Charles. James Charles rose to fame after posting makeup tutorials on Youtube and became the first male ambassador for CoverGirl in 2016. He now has his own makeup line with Morphe that includes brushes, setting spray, and eyeshadow palettes.  I have chosen to advertise the James Charles Morp...

Is Social Media Taking Over?!

SOCIAL MEDIA      Social media has become a very prominent and superficial tool in today’s society. It is extremely rare and almost unheard of to encounter someone who has zero social media. There are various reasons that people use social media. Some use it strictly for business, others for entertainment, and some simply have it to keep in touch with others. No matter the reasoning behind the use of social media, it is no secret that it is surely becoming a huge part of everyday life.  With social media being as popular as it is today, it is important to know how to produce content that resonates with the intended audience. Words are power and knowing how to correctly articulate thoughts and beliefs are what separate a great post and a terrible post. While people do post on social media for different reasons, clear and concise writing is always a positive way to go.      While there are pros and cons to social media, I personally believe...

Girl Wonder

Ode to JoHannah Hannah's 2018 Graduation Picture      JoHannah Marie Daughdrill is the kind of person everyone needs in their life. She’s kind, she’s smart, she’s outgoing, and most importantly, she is one of the strongest people you will ever meet. The trials and tribulations that she has endured and how she responded to them are what makes her such an inspiring person.      Hannah grew up in a very small town called Vandiver, Alabama and attended Vincent Middle High School, which is a 2A school located in Shelby County.  In the 7th grade, her parents divorced and she and her younger sister lived with her mom in a very tiny apartment. While growing up in a divorced household, she watched her mom struggle to make ends meet and her father quickly turned into a stranger. As a young teenager watching her mom's struggle, Hannah knew that she wanted a better life for herself. Hannah with one of her biggest mentors, Shelby County Superintendent, Dr. Lewis B...

Criminal Justice or no?

What is Public Relations?     When I graduated from high school, I was CERTAIN that criminal justice was the right path for me. I loved Law & Order: SVU and thought that being a criminal psychologist would be the absolute coolest job ever. Can y’all believe I took an Intro to Criminal Justice class my first semester and HATED it? My professor was great and I did enjoy the class but I knew criminal justice was NOT the right decision for me.       I knew I needed to pick a major and it needed to happen quickly so that I wouldn’t be in school for 1,000 years. I knew that I enjoyed writing, event planning, and social media so after speaking with an old high school teacher, I decided Communications would be the best fit for me. After taking Introduction to Communications, I knew that I had chosen the PERFECT major for me.      Public Relations was right for me because I actually found myself enjoying the coursework, actively listening in ...

Life before COVID

Have you all found yourself reminiscing on the moments before COVID-19? When life was much simpler and a bit more carefree? I think we’ve all experienced those “OH CRAP, MY MASK!” moments and the worst thing about it is we’re not even super cool superheroes who are concealing our identities just regular degular people protecting ourselves and others from a virus. Do y’all ever miss being able to go to a concert or even a simple basketball game without  a mask or capacity restrictions?  One event before COVID that I thoroughly enjoyed were sporting events. JSU is a school that focuses heavily on the football program and to not be able to attend games every other Sunday in Burgess-Snow with my friends has really sucked. Football games are truly one of the most exciting events in my college career. From finding out what cute outfit to wear, to deciding what time to meet up with friends, and even seeing where everyone was deciding to tailgate.  The energy in Burgess-Snow is l...
